Sewing Lab is when I open up the Stitch Lounge Studio to anyone who wants to come and sew with friends old and new. You get to use any of my machines, all my gadgets, my cutting table, professional irons, etc. You can do some research in my extensive Sewing Library. Most of all, you have company while you work.
I don’t teach during Sewing lab, and will most likely be working away on something myself, but I am always happy to help with a bit of “up-skilling”. I do expect you to have beyond-beginner machine sewing skills to take part. If, between us, we decide you need more dedicated teaching time, we can discuss signing you up for a class.
Sewing Lab is designed for Social Sewing – like the Sewing and Quilting “Bees” of the past, but with modern top-of-the-line equipment!
Book into a Sewing Lab session to see what it’s all about. Your first hour is FREE!
Sewing Lab costs £5 per hour, plus cost of materials. There’s no charge for thread, and you only pay for the interfacing and elastic you use.

Settle into Patchwork Corner, with the Janome 6260 Quilter’s Companion, a quilting toolkit, and a handy cutting and pressing station all on the same desk. Browse the books in the library for block patterns, and quilting inspiration!

The Elna 744D is set up and ready to sew your coverstitch hems and necklines, or decorate the surface of your fabric with fancy thread chain stitching. It can also quickly convert into a regular 4 thread overlocker if needed.

We have stabilisers for knit and woven fabrics, plus water soluble for Free-Standing-Lace.
There is a variety of embroidery hoops, including easy to use magnetic hoops, one large enough for edge-to-edge quilting.
As well as all the above equipment, at Stitch Lounge you’ll find the Janome DM7200 or DM6100 computerised sewing machines each with a variety of one-step buttonholes. Also available are the adjustable height cutting table, the steam generator iron, a knitting machine and a needle felting machine
Get advice on tricky projects, or browse the extensive stitch themed library. You can book to come to the studio and use whatever machines are available, plus the cutting table, dressing room, & the camaraderie.
